My name is Luca Fariello and I have been keeping honeybees since 2016. Without any experience or knowledge of bee keeping, I purchased some hives, equipment, and gave it a shot. Bee keeping quickly became my favorite hobby. I loved hearing the hum of the hive every time I opened one up and admired these majestic insects. However, my inexperience and lack of education cost me both time and money.
A typical year of "bee keeping" consisted of tending to my hives all Summer. Miraculously and to no credit of my own, the bees were true to their name and made that sweet syrup we call honey. I would harvest the honey in the Fall and give it away as gifts to friends and family during the Winter. The following Spring, I would check on my bees and they were either dead, gone, or declining. I realized my inexperience was not only costing me time and money, but it was not fair to the bees and definitely not sustainable.
In 2020 I decided to join a beekeeper's association to get some mentoring from experienced beekeepers. I also took some bee keeping courses at Rutgers University and realized some of the mistakes I had been making. After making some adjustments to the way I managed the bees, I now have happy, healthy, and thriving hives.
To manage honeybees sustainably by providing them access to a healthy environment. To offer raw and organic honeybee products the way nature intended. To educate others about the vital role honeybees play in the ecosystem.
To be an example in the industry of best practices.
